Quality control isn't an after thought at Miltera, it's at the very core of everything we do.
We're proud to claim quality control capabilities that are among the best in the world. Very few facilities have a CMM capable of sub-micron measurements. We have 2 CMMs that can measure features smaller than 1 μm (0.001 mm or 0.0000394 inches). This allows us to not only provide sub-micron measurements, but to also double verify those results.
We of course choose Zeiss for our inspection needs, well recognized as the pinnacle of CMM technology and accuracy.
Our first CMM - a Zeiss Micura is housed in a temperature and humidity controlled inspection laboratory. A dedicated HVAC system with 4 averaging temperature sensors maintain temperature variations under 1 degree Celsius.
The Micura is equipped with a VAST XT gold sensor with navigator technology, providing active scanning. This sensor enables high-speed scanning featuring up to 200 measuring points per second. As a result, form and location parameters such as roundness and flatness can be precisely captured, in addition to geometric features, in a short time. The sensor can be equipped with extremely small stylus tips. The smallest stylus in use has a diameter of just 0.3 millimetres. The Micura provides a measuring volume of 500 x 500 x 500 millimetres.
Our Zeiss Micura has been calibrated and certified to accuracy and repeatability of under 0.4 microns (0.0004 mm or 0.0000157 inches) for components under 100 mm long (4 inches). This is an incomprehensible level of accuracy. Consider that the wavelength of the visible light is 0.4 to 0.7 microns, we can claim measurement capability that exceeds the maximum resolving power of an optical microscope. Outside of contact metrology this level of accuracy is achievable only by using a scanning electron microscope.
Our second CMM - a Zeiss CenterMax is in our temperature controlled production area. HVAC systems maintain temperature control under 2 degrees Celsius of variation.
The Zeiss CenterMax is designed to be used on the shop floor, it boasts temperature stability from +15ºC to +40ºC, dynamic pneumatic vibration insulation and full dust and contaminant isolation. Using the same VAST XT gold high-end sensor from Ziess and navigator technology high-speed scanning of 200 measuring points per second is possible. The CenterMax enables large part inspection covering a volume of 1100 x 1200 x 700 millimetres.
Our Zeiss CenterMax has been calibrated and certified to accuracy and repeatability of under 0.4 microns (0.0004 mm or 0.0000157 inches) for components under 100 mm long (4 inches). The fact that this level of accuracy is available to us as an in-process measurement tool enables us to produce components with extremely tight tolerances.
